First-years Nagi Souichiro and Bob Makihara entered Tendou High School with the intents of taking it over- only for Souichiro to get soundly defeated by Natsume Maya, the sexy captain of the Jyukenbo martial arts club, and who can change her body at will to that of her child-self. Nagi Souichiro is futher humiliated in his complete loss against Maya`s subordinate, Takayanagi Masataka. Things get more complicated as Natsume Maya`s little sister, Natsume Aya, asks the girl-shy Souichiro to marry her, and tells him to promise never to lose another fight...
A day or so after their violent debut at Tendou High School, which turns out to be a martial arts centered institution, the Enforcers, the school discipline team, moves to punish the upstart freshmen.
It doesn`t take long before Souichiro and Bob realize their weakness in comparison to Natsume, Takayanagi, and the Enforcers, and join the Jyukenbo with the promise of becoming stronger than any of the current members, within three months.
Natsume Aya, in conflict with the Enforcers, who`s president is Takayanagi Masataka`s older brother, welcomes them in hopes of Nagi Souichiro finally realizing her goal...
Based on the manga by Oh! Great, it entails the struggle between Nagi Souichiro and the Jyukenbo fighting club versus the insidious Enforcement Group. It is a high-quality school-ruffian/martial arts drama with some adult themes interspersed.

The hero of the piece is Sakuragi Hanamichi, a loud-mouthed, red-haired guy who has been rejected by girls 50 times in junior high. He meets the latest girl of his dreams, Akagi Haruko, and falls madly in love with her. He even goes so far as to join the basketball team to impress her, even though he knows nothing about the sport. But soon, he realizes that he truly loves basketball and he has talent for it. He`s bitter rivals with Rukawa Kaede, both on the court and out of it, because Haruko worships the ground Rukawa walks on, though he hardly notices she exists. The other main characters are Akagi Takenori, Haruko`s older brother who is also the captain of the team; Miyagi Ryota, who is in love with Ayako the team manager; and Mitsui Hisashi, a third-year former MVP (Most Valuable Player) who has been away from basketball for two years. Together, these unlikely misfits aim to transform Shohoku from a little-known team to the champion in all of Japan.
